Full Stack Engineer (Founding Hire)

Location:Madrid or remote (EU time zones)
Type:Freelance or full-time
Compensation:Competitive fee, with possible equity

The Role

We are looking for a full-stack engineer to be our first technical co-builder.

You will work directly with the founder to architect and ship our core platform. That means everything from designing interfaces that lawyers find obvious and fast, to building the backend systems that power intelligent document agents.

You will own 0→1 features across the stack in a modern TypeScript environment (Next.js, React, Node/Edge functions) and wire them into real AI workflows (Vercel AI SDK, LLM-based agents).

What You’ll Do

  • Own 0→1 projects end-to-end, from rough idea to production deployment, in close collaboration with the founder and early design partners at law firms.
  • Build across the stack in a TypeScript-heavy codebase: React + Next.js on the frontend, TypeScript/Node APIs and services on the backend.
  • Integrate AI into product flows using tools like Vercel AI SDK, streaming UIs, and agent-style backends for document drafting, review, and comparison.
  • Work directly from Figma designs and product sketches, iterating on UX and implementation until the experience feels fast and obvious for lawyers.
  • Help shape early engineering practices: code quality, sensible tests, simple abstractions, and deployment workflows that let us ship quickly without breaking trust.

We’re Looking for Someone Who

  • Is proficient in TypeScript, React, and Next.js, and has experience building and shipping full‑stack applications.
  • Is comfortable working on both frontend and backend: APIs, databases, performance, and reliability.
  • Communicates clearly in writing and in person, and can explain tradeoffs and decisions.
  • Can work from Figma (or similar) and translate designs into clean, maintainable UI components.
  • Has previous experience (internships, projects, or roles) where they owned real features end-to-end, not just small tickets.
  • Enjoys ambiguous, unstructured startup environments and prefers figuring things out from first principles over waiting for a detailed spec.
  • Has experience with collaboration tools (GitHub, Notion, etc.) and coding assistants (Cursor, Claude Code, etc.). We provide unlimited access to these tools.

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • Experience with Vercel AI SDK or other AI/LLM frameworks in production products.
  • Interest in legal tech, M&A, document workflows, or Spanish law (no legal background required, curiosity is enough).
  • Experience manipulating DOCX (OXML), Markdown, or similar document formats programmatically.

Why Join Agentic Labs

  • Be a foundational engineer at a focused, product-obsessed AI startup in a large, conservative market with clear users and use cases.
  • Work with a modern TypeScript/Next.js stack and real AI agents, not toy demos.
  • Get direct access to the founder and to real users (law firms) from day one, with tight feedback loops.
  • Have significant ownership over architecture, technical choices, and what “good engineering” looks like here.
  • Competitive compensation and potential equity, with flexibility on Madrid versus remote within EU time zones.

If you want to build AI-native tools that lawyers will actually use every day, and you enjoy working closely with product and design, we would like to talk.
